A beautiful Saturday morning for Coastal Cleanup at Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park. On hand to kick things off were Ranger Karyn with the supplies, instructions, and T-shirts for all. Mark Hardee agreed to coordinate the effort. Ed Caum, from Pasco Department of Tourism was also there with District 4 County Commissioner Henry Wilson to wish us well. Altogether we had about eight people in kayaks, a few on foot, and a nearby group picking up around the Energy Marine Center.

We were all happy to see that the shores, islands, and marshes along Salt Spring Run, from the mouth to the spring, were very clean. We collected a couple of old crab traps, a few plastic articles, and some other miscellaneous junk - but all-in-all found the Park to be mostly pristine. A big "thank you" goes out to the sport kayakers, boaters and fishermen who have enjoyed this area for the last year - and kept it clean.

Several of the kayakers reported seeing a large flock of Roseate Spoonbills in the area near the mouth of Salt Spring Run. An extra treat to cap off a very enjoyable morning helping with the Coastal Cleanup.
